Amy Broomhall 

Provisional Psychologist

Amy is a dedicated and compassionate Provisional Psychologist, registered with AHPRA, and currently completing a Master of Professional Psychology program at Latrobe University. Having completed her Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) in 2022, she distinguished herself academically with first-class honours for her thesis, which focused on mental health and attachment styles in LGBTQIA+ relationships.

Known for her warmth and authenticity, Amy possesses substantial experience in assisting individuals with complex mental health and social issues. This area of interest has been honed through her extensive career in the community sector. She embraces values of curiosity and diversity, approaching her work with a non-judgmental perspective and a passion for engaging with people from diverse backgrounds. Her work with NDIS clients over the past 2.5 years has significantly deepened her understanding of disability justice and equity, showcasing her commitment to inclusive practices.

Amy's professional journey includes various roles in care and counselling, where she has developed a refined skill set in addressing depression, anxiety, addiction, familial systems, and trauma. Her approach to therapy is client-centred and trauma-informed, anchored in the principles of Positive Psychology to ensure client comfort and to support clients in achieving their goals at their own pace. She is especially adept at creating safer spaces, offering affirming and knowledgeable support to queer and gender-diverse clients, and she is known for being kink-aware and supportive of sex workers.

Furthermore, Amy's unique creative background enables her to tailor her sessions to the specific needs of each client. She skillfully integrates evidence-based therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), aiming to provide practical and sustainable outcomes for her clients. Her multifaceted approach and dedication to her clients' wellbeing underscore her effectiveness as a mental health professional.
